This is not the most revolutionary nor the most famous or even the most produced (only 12 units were built) of the Farman planes, but it is a wind tunnel model that was instrumental to the tuning tests of this aircraft, and particularly one of its versions.

The Farman F 480 was a two-seater (one behind the other) monoplane with a parasol wing configuration reserved for both touring and training purposes. The French government acquired the 12 units produced for the training of its Armée de l’Air pilots. Those planes later became - a symbolic - support to the Spanish Republicans as their status of trainer aircraft allowed for their delivery despite the principle of non-intervention passed by the French government of the time. Even though it was produced in small quantities, the Farman F 480 does have a history!

The 1:10 scale model has a 122 cm wingspan and a 76 cm length. You may have noticed that the model is slightly different than the aircraft shown in the historical photo, because it is in fact the version intended to be equipped with a straight engine rather than a radial engine. This version with its long engine cowl will be discontinued because very few aircraft were built.

This is a very fine technical and old piece particularly interesting because of its markings that identify and authenticate it.
