Remembering a Famous Rendez-vous

As it sometimes happens with exceptional objects, this item stands out from typical collectible pieces. This recent creation named “Rendez-vous” was done by a young French company.

It is the famous Saturn V rocket used to send men onto the moon during the Apollo 11 mission. It is a very dynamic display that brings to mind scenes we all remember, as the rocket is shown here in the lift-off stage. The greatest care has been applied in the staging of the model shown during that phase of the flight where the rocket slowly leaves Earth’s gravity, helped by the full power of its engines and engulfed in burning smoke plumes. It is most striking in a dim-lit ambiance.

This beautiful staging is displayed in a Plexiglas showcase that both highlights the piece and keeps the dust off it. Also it allows a view of the model from all angles. This showcase, despite its size was made without a frame. The partitions are pieced together with Plexiglas screws. This precision shows the attention to details and perfection that came in the making of this remarkable work.

This item is meant to be decorative but it can also be used as ambient lighting, using a remote control to monitor the light intensity of the column of smoke (intensity, colour and frequency).

“Rendez-vous” is a limited series of five numbered and identified copies. It is an original and atypical work, curated for the enthusiasts. Four copies are currently available, including the one in our shop.
