This restoration and transformation of a damaged 1/50 scale EMIRATES A380 model (length 146 cm, wingspan 160 cm) was carried out by the Workshop of the store. After repairing the damaged or missing parts, designing and producing metal landing gear, the model was finished in Air France livery (a mix of paintwork and decals).

Commissioned by the collector who owns the model, this project also had the benefit of inspiring a revival for several other models in the boutique, which had been quietly waiting on the Workshop shelves for a new life. The first in this series is a Boeing B-707 in Air France colors, based on an old 1/50 travel agency model produced by Westway Models in the 1960s.

The model had suffered damage and no longer had a stand. Instead of creating a new tripod, we opted for landing gear crafted in metal (resin wheels), which provides a more familiar view of the aircraft and allows for a display on a base evoking a runway, making it more original.

Following this piece (sold) a Boeing B-727 (which has now been reserved since the note was published) and a Concorde will be next, also in 1/50 scale and likewise presented on landing gear.

Since the liveries for these two models have not yet been decided, if you would like to acquire one and have it finished in the colors of an airline of your choice—whether classic or more “exotic”—feel free to get in touch to discuss it!_
More broadly, perhaps you already have in mind a project involving restoration, transformation, the addition of landing gear, or any other modification to one of your models. If so, whatever the scope of your project and the scale involved, let’s talk about it! That way, you’ll end up with a unique piece—simply because the model you want doesn’t exist, or you might never come across it...
