This fine timepiece remains in perfect working order and is complete, accompanied by its original leather mounting case. The removable watch was designed to be secured to the dashboard by means of the case’s eyelets.
A relic of the Great War and a precursor to cockpit clocks, it illustrates how, in the early days of aviation, equipment was often adapted from the automobile industry, featuring here a movement stamped “Automobile Régulateur.”
Two minor defects are to be noted: a chip in the glass between the numerals 9 and 10, and a hairline crack on the dial near the numeral 7 (see photographs). These do not, however, diminish the significance of this piece, now more than a century old, nor do they affect its reliable operation.
